Celerina-Pontresina-Schneeschuhtrail

Between Pontresina and Celerina this signposted snowshoe trail takes you through the enchanting, snowy Forest of Staz and across moorland clearings covered in deep snow.

The snowshoe trail begins at Celerina, S. Gian, away from direct public transport connections; the nearest stop, Celerina Staz, is around 500 m away. The church of San Gian comes into view at the start. Perched on a hill, this regional landmark is a cultural asset of national importance. The route then climbs gradually between woodland and open terrain.

After just under two kilometres, the highest point is reached near La Crasta at just under 1,800 m. From here, the trail continues towards Pontresina with a few short counter-climbs. The woodland thins out, and meadows and damp hollows characterise the final section before the first houses appear. Shortly before the finish, Restaurant Station stands directly on the route. After around four kilometres and just over an hour and a half, the snowshoe hike ends at the Pontresina cross-country skiing centre; the railway station is just over 100 m away.
