01/ Overview
The route
Tramping through the pristine mountains, high above the Engadin's chain of lakes: this can only be experienced on the Corvatsch. The views of the frozen lakes and the pinnacles of the Corvatsch massif make for an impressive sight. At around the half-way point, the Ustaria Rabgiusa restaurant offers the an opportunity for a refreshment.
The roughly four-kilometre snowshoe tour starts at the Furtschellas middle station. The La ChĂĽdra mountain restaurant lies close to the route right at the start; the circuit then sweeps in a wide arc across open terrain. With no forest to obstruct the view, the high-altitude slopes remain in full sight. Over a total ascent of around 260 metres, the route steadily gains elevation.
The second section reaches Lejin Epidot. This small mountain lake lies directly on the route, which shortly afterwards reaches its highest point near the Chastelets at just under 2,500 m. From here, the circuit turns back towards the starting point.
The descent once again leads across the open slopes, bringing snowshoers back to the Furtschellas middle station near Sils im Engadin after just over two hours.
