Chemin de Moron

A scenic highlight awaits you right at the beginning: the trail through the Gorges de Perrefitte. Following the river La Chalière, you walk through the forest and over wooden bridges and stairs. 209 steps lead up to Mario Botta's observation tower on the Moron (temporarily closed). At the top: a great view of the Bernese Jura and the mountain range behind.

From the Perrefitte, poste bus stop, it is around 150 m to the starting point in the village. The hiking trail soon follows the La Chalière and enters the forest. In the Gorges de Perrefitte, the stream runs close to the path, with steps leading through the narrow gorge. The route then continues uphill, initially through the forest, then between meadows and pastures to Les Ecorcheresses.

Above Les Ecorcheresses, the ascent continues along the consistently waymarked hiking trail. Open Jura uplands alternate with stretches of forest as the route approaches the Moron. It does not pass over the summit itself. Shortly afterwards, the hike reaches its highest point at around 1,330 m. By this stage, just under three hours and a large proportion of the approximately 880 metres of ascent have been completed.

The return route descends in a long arc back into the valley. The La Chalière remains the guiding thread until the first houses of Perrefitte come into view. The circular hike ends in the village, once again around 150 m from the bus stop.
