Chemin du 100e du CAS Jura

A delightful hike from St-Ursanne to Lucelle, the first of six stages of the Ajoie Circuit created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Jura section of Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). Discover magnificent landscapes along this exciting and challenging route.

The roughly 17-kilometre hike begins directly at St-Ursanne railway station. The route descends into the village, passes the collegiate church and skirts the castle ruins. It then leaves the houses behind and climbs steadily through the alternation of woodland, meadows and pastures typical of this route.

Via Outremont and La Caquerelle, the route reaches the Col des Rangiers, which links the Allaine valley with the Tabeillon valley. Shortly afterwards, it passes the Cabane des Ordons. The highest point is reached near Les Ordons at just under 1,000 m. Here stands the widely visible, 80-metre-high transmission tower. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail then runs mainly through extensive Jura woodland, interspersed with open clearings and occasional views.

The long descent ends in Lucelle after a good five and a half hours. The Étang de Lucelle lies not far from the finish, while the Lucelle bus stop is located directly at the endpoint. With around 1,000 metres of ascent, the tour requires stamina despite the well-maintained trails.
