Chemin du Jura, Stage 4/5

From St. Ursanne, the route follows the Doubs river to Tariche. It then meets the trail commemorating the 40th anniversary of the canton of Jura, and continues on to the intersection of the three Jura districts. You then continue hiking on the ridge. In view: the Delémont and Doubs valleys. The descent leads to the destination for this stage at Glovelier.

From the St-Ursanne, Pont St-Jean/ville bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point. Right at the beginning, the route passes the Collégiale and soon leaves the village behind. Via Montmelon-Dessous and Ravines, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail heads out into the open Jura countryside.

Meadows and pastures characterise much of this approximately 18-kilometre hike, interspersed with stretches of woodland that add variety. The total ascent of around 620 metres is spread over the route. After a little over twelve kilometres, the trail reaches its highest point near Le Chêtelat at around 910 metres. From there, the route gradually descends towards Glovelier.

Shortly before the destination, the trail follows the Tabeillon for a while. The first houses then herald the approach to Glovelier. The route passes the Restaurant de la Poste and ends just a few steps from the railway station. Just over five hours should be allowed for this easy but long hike.
