Parcours de St-Ursanne

The route in and around the charming town of St-Ursanne in Canton Jura is a treat for history lovers. The captivating little town on the River Doubs has changed little over the centuries. It is impressive and well worth a visit.

The nine-kilometre circuit starts at St-Ursanne railway station, right by the trailhead. Just a few steps later, the highest point is reached at around 490 m. The route then leaves the built-up area behind and continues across open meadows. A section of just over one and a half kilometres runs outside the marked hiking trail network before rejoining a yellow-marked trail.

Further on, the route alternates between open terrain and forest. With only around 100 metres of elevation gain, the profile remains gentle, although a few short climbs add rhythm to the circuit. Around the halfway point, the Doubs barbecue site lies directly beside the trail and makes an ideal place for a break amid the greenery. The hiking trail then continues through the forest and gradually returns to St-Ursanne.

Shortly before the town, the Saint-Ursanne photo spot offers a view of the stage destination. In St-Ursanne itself, the route passes the Collégiale before completing the circuit back at the railway station. A little over two hours should be allowed for the walk.
