Chemin du Jura, Stage 3/5

The route leads through the cultivated landscapes of the Ajoie region and across a ridge into the Clos du Doubs. Bands of rock and erosion gullies crisscross the forests on steep slopes. The stage ends in the narrow medieval streets of St-Ursanne on the banks of the Doubs.

The hike of just under five hours begins near the Porrentruy stop. The waymarked trail initially leads through the town and past the Temple de Porrentruy. The houses are soon left behind, and the long ascent continues between stretches of woodland and open meadows.

By the halfway point, the route climbs to around 880 m, where it reaches its highest point. From there, the trail continues through a constant alternation of woodland and pasture. With a total ascent of around 620 metres, the 17-kilometre hike requires stamina, although the trail itself remains easy. Towards the end of the rural section, Seleute comes into view; Restaurant La Fontaine lies directly on the route.

From Seleute, the trail continues downhill to St-Ursanne. Shortly before the destination, it passes the Collégiale church and enters the town. The St-Ursanne, Pont St-Jean/ville stop is only around 100 m from the end point.
