01/ Overview

The route

A short themed trail from Courgenay to the meadows near Le Jonc. This gentle circuit runs away from the marked hiking network and returns to the village via the Hôtel-Restaurant de La Petite Gilberte.

The short circular hike begins in Courgenay, where the themed trail sets off towards Le Jonc. The actual starting point, however, is not served directly by public transport; the nearest stop, Courgenay, zone industrielle, is around 500 m away. The route starts out between the houses and soon emerges into open countryside. As it runs almost entirely outside the marked hiking network, reliable navigation is essential.

At Le Jonc, the trail reaches its highest point at just over 500 m after a gentle ascent. Meadows and pastures dominate the landscape here before the circuit turns back towards Courgenay. Around an hour should be allowed for the route of just under 4 km. The Hôtel-Restaurant de La Petite Gilberte stands directly on the route among the first houses. From there, a loop of just under one kilometre through the residential area remains before reaching the starting point in Courgenay.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
