01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail linking ruins, a village church and Jura woodland: from Le Moulin, the circular route leads through Courchavon and up to open meadows near Mont Renaud before returning via Mormont.
The themed trail begins in Le Moulin, away from direct public transport connections; the Courchavon, route de la Gare stop is just over 300 m away. After only a few steps, the route passes the Ruine de Châtelvouhay before descending to the houses of Le Moulin. In Courchavon, the trail passes the Église Saint-Jean and reaches the lowest point of the circuit at just over 400 m.
From Courchavon, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs through the forest. Higher up, the trees give way to meadows and pastures. Just over halfway along, the route reaches its highest point near Mont Renaud at around 540 m. A short while later, it arrives at Mormont and turns back. The final one and a half kilometres no longer follow the waymarked hiking trail network throughout. Passing between open countryside, woodland edges and scattered houses, the route leads gently up and down back to Le Moulin.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
