01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail through the gentle Jura landscape near Bure: from the village into the forest, out to the L’étang pond and back across open meadows.
The themed trail begins in the heart of the village at the Bure, Mairie bus stop. Near the Église Saint-Amand, the route initially follows a waymarked hiking trail. The houses are soon left behind as the path descends gently and enters the forest.
After the first section, the route runs largely outside the waymarked hiking network. Winding between trees and open meadows, it leads with only minor changes in elevation to the pond of L’étang, from which the trail takes its name. Around the halfway point of the nearly seven-kilometre circuit, the terrain rises gently once more. The highest point is at around 590 m; from there, the route descends at a leisurely gradient.
On the final section, forest and open countryside alternate as the path approaches Bure. After just over an hour and a half, the route ends on the edge of the village, though not directly at a bus stop. From the endpoint, it is around 600 m to Bure, Mairie.
