01/ Overview
The route
A short geological educational trail near Courtedoux: Traces des géants leads from woodland into open countryside, gaining elevation gently over around one and a half kilometres.
The actual starting point lies just under 300 m from the Chevenez, Paléo Jura bus stop. There, the Traces des géants geological educational trail begins on the outskirts of Courtedoux. The short route is listed in the «Erlebnis Geologie» directory and runs entirely outside the marked hiking trail network. It initially leads through the forest, climbing gently along the way. Over around one and a half kilometres, it gains approximately 50 metres in elevation.
Further on, the forest thins out, and meadows and open countryside characterise the final section. Shortly before the destination, the route reaches its highest point at around 525 m. After approximately half an hour, it ends in Courtedoux. The return to public transport is no longer part of the route described: the nearest stop, Chevenez, Paléo Jura, is around one and a half kilometres from the endpoint.
