01/ Overview

The route

A gentle circuit through the fields and forests around Bure. This themed trail focuses on the farms of the Ajoie and mostly runs outside the marked hiking trail network.

The almost ten-kilometre themed trail to the farms begins at the Bure, Mairie stop. Right at the start, the Église Saint-Amand stands close to the route. The trail then leaves the houses of Bure behind and crosses open meadows and farmland. Only short sections follow marked hiking trails; most of the circuit runs along other paths through the countryside.

With gentle ascents and descents, the route leads into the area around Mont Renaud. Roughly halfway, it reaches its highest point at around 610 m. Open countryside continues to dominate the scenery, interspersed with stretches of forest that add variety. With a total ascent of only just over 100 metres, the profile remains moderate.

In the final third, the loop emerges from the forest and heads back across the fields. After just over two hours, the first houses of Bure come into view again; near the church, the circuit closes at the Bure, Mairie stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
