Chemin du Val Terbi

The route over the hills at the very end of Val Terbi climbs up to Welschgätterli. The rocky mountain pass also forms the language border. The panoramic views of the Delémont Valley and the Basel and Solothurn regions are incredible. Several picnic areas along the way are perfect for a break.

From the Montsevelier, village bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point. The circular hike leaves the village by the Église Saint-Georges and soon climbs into the forest. At first, the Ruisseau de Montsevelier sets the direction as the waymarked trail quickly gains altitude. After the initial ascent, a small pass is reached at Welschgätterli.

The trail continues through forest and across open meadows in a steady succession of climbs and descents. The approximately 700 metres of ascent are spread over several climbs. Just over halfway along, the highest point is reached at around 1,000 m, near Moncé, although its summit lies off the route. A longer descent then leads out of the forest and back into the more open valley. Between pastures and occasional stretches of woodland, the trail approaches the Ruisseau de Montsevelier once more. Towards the end, the first houses come into view, and after around eleven kilometres Montsevelier and the nearby bus stop are reached again.
