01/ Overview

The route

A short, steep themed trail through the Jura forests: from the heights near Bärschwil, the route descends almost continuously to the open meadows above Vicques.

The Sentier de la Montagne B begins at an elevated starting point near Bärschwil. At around 875 m, this is also the highest point on the short route. The Bärschwil, Hölzlirank bus stop is not located directly at the trailhead, but around two kilometres away. The themed trail soon enters the forest and descends steadily, largely away from the marked hiking trail network.

Over just over two kilometres, the route loses around 350 metres in elevation. Forest characterises the descent before meadows and open terrain appear towards the end. The nearest stop to the destination, Recolaine, Es Montes, is also around two kilometres away. After about 40 minutes, the trail ends near Vicques at around 530 m.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
