Chlosterweid-Schneeschuhtrail

You don't need to be in peak condition to enjoy this snowshoe hike through remote areas, but watch out: the view of the Chli Aubrig could whet your appetite for more challenging tours.

The six-kilometre snowshoe tour starts at the Euthal, Schulhaus bus stop. Initially, the route leads away from the village across open terrain, climbing with views of the Sihlsee. This reservoir in the high valley of Einsiedeln is the largest in Switzerland by surface area, although it lies slightly off the route. The ascent continues between pastures and stretches of woodland, with most of the elevation gain coming on the open slopes.

After roughly half the distance, the snowshoe trail reaches its highest point near the Chrummflue at around 1,110 m. From here, the route descends again, first through woodland and then across more open terrain towards Euthal. At the first houses, the Viertelskirche zur schmerzhaften Muttergottes comes into view directly beside the route. A little later, after just over two and a half hours, the tour ends back at the schoolhouse and the bus stop of the same name.
