Guggeli-Schneeschuhtrail

This circular route is especially popular with beginners and snowshoe hiking enthusiasts. Discover the sunny side of Muotathal in the southern part of the village and, if you like, make a detour to a spiritual site.

The snowshoe hike begins almost immediately at the Muotathal, Post bus stop. At first, the route descends briefly to its lowest point before passing the rifle clubhouse and Kerchel chapel. The houses are then left behind as the ascent begins across open terrain. Most of the route’s total elevation gain of around 220 metres is covered on the way towards Guggeli.

At Guggeli, the gradient eases. Shortly afterwards, the route reaches its highest point at just under 780 metres, in the wider vicinity of Firstspitz. It then heads downhill again. Meadows and pastures dominate the landscape before the first houses of Muotathal draw closer.

In the village, the route passes the Walburga Mohr funerary chapel and completes the loop back to the starting point. After around four kilometres and just over two hours, the snowshoe hike ends back at the Muotathal, Post bus stop.
