01/ Overview
The route
A forest circuit above Seelisberg: the Forester Trail climbs to Hoch Flüe and an elevation of around 1,080 m, links scenic viewpoints and explains along the way the various roles performed by the Oberwald.
From the Seelisberg, Hotel Sonnenberg bus stop, the Forester Trail quickly leaves the village behind and enters the Oberwald. Among tall trees, the snowshoe route climbs to Hoch Flüe, one of the viewpoints on the circuit. Shortly afterwards, near Brandegg, it reaches its highest point at around 1,080 m.
The route then follows a wide arc through the forest. Wooden panels describe its protective, energy-supplying and recreational functions, giving the name Forester Trail a tangible meaning along the way. Via Frutt, Teifenzug and Litenfad, denser sections of forest alternate with open areas. Where the trees thin out, views open up down to Lake Lucerne.
At Plattenzug and Schwandli, the gradual return begins. Via Oberfrutt, the circuit steadily loses elevation and eventually reaches the houses of Oberdorf. A little later, the snowshoe trail, which takes just over two and a half hours, ends back at the Seelisberg, Hotel Sonnenberg bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
