01/ Overview
The route
A short water-themed trail through the open Jura landscape near Lajoux, with a gentle ascent to the highest point at Le Coteniat and a peaceful return through the forest.
The Circuit de l’eau begins near the Lajoux JU, poste bus stop. From the village, the route climbs through meadows and pastures. A longer section lies outside the marked hiking trail network and therefore requires some attention. After just over two kilometres, the highest point is reached at Le Coteniat, at around 1,030 m.
The themed trail then descends gradually and enters the forest. Water is the theme throughout the circuit of just under two hours, although the route does not follow a stream. After the lowest point, the route climbs gently once more and returns to Lajoux along a marked hiking trail. From the finish, it is around 230 m to the Lajoux JU, école bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
