01/ Overview
The route
A short Jura circuit through pastures and woodland, passing the Gouffre de Lajoux and climbing to its highest point near Montbautier.
This roughly six-kilometre themed trail begins at the Lajoux JU, poste bus stop, just a few steps from the starting point. The route initially leaves the houses of Lajoux behind and crosses meadows and pastures to Dos les Laves. The woodland then draws closer. At the Gouffre de Lajoux, the trail passes within just under thirty metres of the cave. Long sections run outside the marked hiking trail network, while remaining within the gently rolling Jura landscape.
In the middle section, the circuit climbs more noticeably and reaches its highest point near Montbautier at around 1,060 m. Open terrain alternates once more with woodland before the route rejoins marked trails. From here, it descends towards Lajoux, passes the first houses and ends back in the village after a little over an hour and a half, near the Lajoux JU, poste bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
