01/ Overview
The route
Enjoy a rapid descent from Curnius to Falera with a beautiful view of the Signina chain and the Rhine Valley. The toboggan run passes by traditional alpine pastures and the well-known Mirasteilas observatory.
It is only a few steps from the Curnius stop to the start of the sledging run. At first, the route crosses open terrain at an almost constant elevation. After around 200 metres, it reaches its highest point at just under 1,660 m, not far from Crest la Plugliusa. The actual descent then begins.
Over a total of three kilometres, the sledging run loses around 420 metres in elevation. Broad, open expanses dominate the scenery, with wet meadows bordering the route in places. In the middle section, the route descends steadily, with no named intermediate destinations to divert from the direct way down into the valley. Towards the end, the houses of Falera draw closer, and after a good 40 minutes the descent finishes at the Curnius valley station. The stop of the same name is located directly beside the finish in Falera.
