01/ Overview
The route
One of Switzerland’s longest sledding runs starts in Cuolm Sura below Piz Mundaun, which overlooks the entire Surselva district. The run is approximately 9 km long and meanders mostly through the forest via Flond down to the charming town of Ilanz.
The descent begins at the Cuolm Sura mountain inn, close to the Cuolm Sura (Piz Mundaun) stop. Shortly after the start, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1'600 m. From here, the sledging run descends around 900 metres over nine kilometres.
The descent initially crosses open terrain before the route enters the forest for longer stretches. In between, meadows and pastures repeatedly open up views down into the valley. Around Flond, the sledging run passes through the surroundings of the village; the listed Reformed church lies around 350 m off the route. Towards the end, the houses draw closer, and the mountain landscape gradually gives way to the built-up area of Ilanz.
The finish is in Ilanz/Glion at around 730 m. From there, it is just under 300 m to the Ilanz, Via Santeri stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
