01/ Overview
The route
The toboggan run starts in the Ausserberg district of Tenna, right next to the world’s first solar ski lift. Thanks to the easy terrain, the descent is ideal for a family outing. It runs gently over the wide slopes and past Walser houses. At the end, the postbus takes sledgers back to the village.
The descent begins in Ausserberg at the Tenna, Solarskilift stop. The Pistenbeizli refreshment hut stands beside the toboggan run right at the start. After just a few metres, the highest point is reached at around 1'650 m; from there, the route leads almost continuously downhill.
Over roughly two kilometres, the toboggan run descends by about 180 metres. At first, open slopes and the houses of Ausserberg lie alongside the route. The forest soon draws closer and encloses the run for the longer middle section. Between the trees, the route continues clearly downhill, without any further ascent interrupting the ride.
Towards the end, the forest once again gives way to open meadows. After just under half an hour, the toboggan run reaches its lowest point at around 1'470 m and ends at Tenna, Pflanzgarten. The stop of the same name is located directly at the finish.
