01/ Overview
The route
Sledging fun in the Beverin nature park high above the Schams valley. You need your own transport to get up the mountain but it’s worth it: in Dros, a wonderful view of Piz Curvér or Surettahorn awaits you. The trail winds its way through the forest down into the beautiful Lohn mountain valley.
The sledging trail begins at Dros at around 1'870 m, the highest point of the route. There is no public transport stop directly at the start: the nearest stop, Mathon, Dorf, is around 1.2 km away. From Dros, the descent initially leads through forest, steadily losing altitude along the first section. The route descends around 280 vertical metres in total before reaching its destination.
About halfway along, the Schlittelbar am Schamserberg lies directly on the route. The forest then begins to thin out, and open meadows characterise the remainder of the descent towards the village before the first houses of Lohn are reached. The Reformed church stands slightly away from the route in the village and is a listed place of worship. After around 3 km and approximately 40 minutes, the sledging trail ends in Lohn GR, just a few steps from the Lohn GR, Dorf stop.
