01/ Overview

The route

A comfortable gondola ride takes you to the start near the midway station. At this lofty height, let your gaze wander over the Rheinwald massif and Splügen village – and then, off we go: the toboggan track twists and turns through the forest at first, and then along the edge of the ski run back to the valley station.

From the Blacktenboden bus stop, it is only a few steps to the start in Blachtaboda. At around 1,760 m, this is also the highest point of the route. The two-kilometre descent begins here, dropping approximately 280 metres in elevation in just under half an hour. Initially, the sledging trail crosses open terrain, with views of the slopes around Splügen.

Further down, the route enters the forest. The descent continues between the trees, while towards the end the valley station in Splügen draws closer. Shortly before the finish, the Tal-Restaurant Bergbahnen Splügen lies directly on the route. A little later, the descent ends at the valley station; the Splügen (Talstation) bus stop is located immediately beside the end point.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
