01/ Overview
The route
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, Weissenberge is just the place: this twisting sledge ride through the wild Chrauchbach Gorge to the village of Matt certainly packs a punch and is rightly nicknamed “the outrageous toboggan run”.
The toboggan run begins at Weissenberge, around 400 m from the nearest stop, Weissenberge. The three-kilometre descent starts almost at the highest point, at around 1,260 m. Initially, it leads across open terrain; the Berggasthaus Edelwyss lies a little off the route. Before long, the first trees draw closer and the trail enters the forest.
The route continues steadily downhill between trees and clearings, losing a total of around 440 metres in elevation over a short distance. Towards the end, the forest thins out and gives way to the first houses of Matt. A self-service café also lies a little off the route here. After around 40 minutes, the ride ends in the village, directly by the Matt (Seilbahn) stop.
