01/ Overview
The route
An easy circular tour on the slightly undulating sunlit high plateau of Grüsch Danusa. From Schwänzelegg, this tour traverses varied terrain as far as the Höhsäss peak, its highest point. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of the Rhine and Prättigau Valleys towards Calanda and Surselva.
The snowshoe circuit starts at the Schwänzelegg (Cavadura) stop on Schwänzelegg. Right at the beginning, the Schwänzelegg viewpoint and Berghaus Schwänzelegg lie close to the route. It then crosses open terrain towards Alp Rona, with the Alp Rona Beizli directly beside the trail. From here, the route continues uphill, gaining elevation steadily as far as Hö Säss.
Near Hö Säss, the circuit reaches its highest point at around 1,820 m. The route then descends markedly across open terrain before climbing again in the final third. The six-kilometre circuit involves around 300 metres of ascent and takes just under three hours. With no further detours, the final climb leads back to Schwänzelegg and the Schwänzelegg (Cavadura) stop.
