01/ Overview
The route
The snowshoe trail on Pizol leads above the timber line and offers spectacular views to the Alpine panorama and into the Tectonic Arena Sardona. Thanks to the altitude there is most likely a lot of snow.
The snowshoe tour starts at the Pardiel stop at around 1,620 m. With no significant interruptions to the ascent, the route heads uphill from the outset. Pardiel is soon left behind, and open slopes characterise the climb. The Vilterser Seeli lies slightly off the route on the north-eastern slope of the Pizol, at around 1,900 m. As the altitude increases, the terrain opens out further, with views sweeping across the broad slopes.
A little over two and a half hours should be allowed for the four kilometres and approximately 600 metres of ascent, as there are few extended flat sections on which to recover. Over the final kilometre and a half, the climb remains sustained and passes the Laufbödenstübli. The highest point is not reached until the finish at Laufböden: at around 2,225 m, the snowshoe tour ends with the Schlösslichopf as the nearest summit, just a few steps from the Laufböden mountain station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
