01/ Overview
The route
A magnificent view of the Churfirsten mountain chain welcomes you to Flumser Kleinberg. Far away from the Flumserberg bustle on the opposite side of the mountain, the trail leads up through open forest clearings into the basin of Mädems. At the foot of Pfufisegg we go back to the other side and mostly downhill.
The tour starts at the Berghotel Schönhalden; the nearest public-transport stop, Flumserberg Portels, Höfli, lies about 1.8 km away. At first the path climbs more steeply through open terrain and wide pastures. At the highest point, near the Guscha, the route reaches its crest at roughly 1,800 m with an unobstructed view over the snow-covered slopes.
The descent follows varying path types back toward the hotel. About halfway the route passes the Mädemshintersäss watering point, practically on the path. Further down the terrain eases before the circuit returns to the Berghotel Schönhalden. In total roughly 7 km and about 400 m of elevation gain, duration around three and a half hours.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
