01/ Overview
The route
Round trip through quiet forests and open landscapes at the foot of Guscha summit. With numerous views to the impressive Churfirsten peaks and towards Flumserberg. On the way: Alp Wildenberg and the associated Stafel Gampergalt.
The snowshoe tour starts at Berghotel Schönhalden above Flums. There is no public transport stop nearby: the closest, Flumserberg Portels, Höfli, is around 1.8 km away. From the hotel, the three-kilometre circuit initially descends gently across open terrain. After about half a kilometre, the lowest point is reached at just under 1'500 m. This is followed by the longer ascent that defines most of the nearly two-hour tour.
Alternating between open slopes and forest, the route gains around 220 metres in elevation. Open terrain dominates the scenery, interspersed with wooded sections. Near Guscha, after just over two kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1'650 m. From here, the circuit descends again towards the starting point. Towards the end, the forest closes in before Berghotel Schönhalden is reached once more.
