01/ Overview
The route
This scenic snowshoe trail leads at a leisurely pace from Panüöl down to Prodalp. Always in plain view: the impressive mountain panorama of Sarganserland. The snowshoe tour through idyllic winter scenery is ideal for beginners.
From the Panüöl stop, it is only a few steps to the start at Alp Panüöl. The snowshoe trail initially climbs gently across open terrain. After just over half a kilometre, it reaches its highest point at around 1,840 m, below the rocky Maschgenkamm ridge. The profile then changes: the short ascent gives way to a long, steady descent towards Prodalp.
Broad meadows and Alpine pastures now dominate the landscape, with the route passing wet meadows and small areas of moorland in places. The views remain open as the snowshoe trail loses a total of around 320 metres in elevation over just over an hour and a half. In the final third, the Rotenberg fire pit lies directly on the route. From there, the descent continues across the open slopes and ends at Flumserberg, Prodalp, only a few steps from the Prodalp stop.
