01/ Overview
The route
Get away from it all: this trail runs from the well-preserved Walser settlement of Weissenberge to the idyllic Stäfeli ski hut, where a spectacular panoramic view over the Sernf Valley awaits.
The six-kilometre snowshoe tour begins directly at the Weissenberge stop. From Matt, Weissenberge, the route climbs across largely open slopes. The ascent continues throughout the first half and totals around 500 metres of elevation gain. Without heading for a summit, the circuit leads close to the Zindelchopf; the highest point is reached after around three kilometres at approximately 1'760 m.
From there, the route descends again towards Weissenberge. Meadows and pastures also dominate the scenery on the return leg, as most of the elevation gained earlier is lost. Towards the end, the snowshoe trail passes close to the Berggasthaus Edelwyss before the final descent to the starting point. After just over three and a half hours, the circuit ends back at the Weissenberge stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
