01/ Overview
The route
A varied snowshoe trail from Mount Stelserberg via Gafäll, with its astounding panorama of the Rätikon chain – known as the Graubünden Dolomites. The destination of this stage: the idyllic Walser village of St. Antönien.
From the Stels, Mottis stop, the snowshoe trail initially climbs across open slopes. After Berghaus zum See, the long ascent continues, first across open terrain and then in places along the edge of the forest. Altogether, the route gains around 620 metres in elevation.
After just over two hours, the route reaches its highest point near Gafäll at around 2,040 m. The summit itself lies a little off the route. The trail now turns downhill, descending at varying gradients through open slopes and longer stretches of forest. By St. Antönien, it has lost almost 700 metres in elevation.
The forest continues to define the first part of the final third, before the terrain opens up again and the first houses of St. Antönien come into view. Close to the route stands the Reformed church, a place of worship protected at cantonal level. After around nine kilometres and just over five hours, the snowshoe tour ends at the St. Antönien, Platz stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
