01/ Overview
The route
High above Lake Thun, the trail leads through silent forests and open meadows on its way to Dünzenegg. Your companions are beautiful views of the lake, the Bernese Alps and the Central Plateau. With some traverses and steep, exposed sections, this trail is aimed at snowshoe hikers with some experience.
The eight-kilometre snowshoe tour begins at the Schwanden (Sigriswil), Säge bus stop. From the houses, the route climbs across open terrain, occasionally entering the forest. Around 440 metres of ascent are covered over the first four kilometres.
About halfway round, the highest point is reached at 1,456 m. The circuit then descends through alternating stretches of forest and across open slopes. Mäscherchopf and Züsenegghubel lie in the forest a little way off the route. After around four hours in total, the descent leads back to the houses of Schwanden and the Säge bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
