Saxeten Trail

Experience nature and relaxation in the untouched Saxettal valley, surrounded by the Schwalmere, Bällenhöchst and Morgenberghorn peaks, in the distance enchanting Lake Brienz. Hike from this traffic-free mountain village into the funnel-shaped high valley, the source of Interlaken’s drinking water.

From the Saxeten, Skipintli bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point of this short snowshoe tour. Right at the beginning, the Skipintli lies close to the route. The circuit then leads out of Saxeten and climbs across open meadows and pastures. The ascent totals around 190 metres, with the highest point reached early on.

After around one kilometre, the elevation is just under 1'250 m. The route now turns downhill and heads increasingly into the forest. The lowest point of the circuit is reached in the final third, before the trail climbs gently once more and approaches Saxeten again. After a total of around three kilometres and a good hour and a half, the snowshoe tour ends back at the starting point, a few steps from the bus stop.
