01/ Overview
The route
If you want to recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes, this snowshoe trail offers the chance to do just that in the gorgeous Eriztal valley. With views of the Hohgant, Trogenhorn and Sieben Hengste mountains, you will get to know the fabulous Rotmoos moorland.
The circular snowshoe trail begins at the Eriz, Säge bus stop in Innereriz. Gasthaus Säge is located on the route right at the start. The trail then leaves the small settlement behind and gains elevation between open meadows and stretches of woodland. The roughly seven-kilometre circuit involves just under 400 metres of ascent and takes a little over three hours.
The ascent leads towards the Trogenhorn. A little over halfway along, the route reaches its highest point near the mountain at around 1,370 m. Most of the climbing is now complete. The route then descends again through alternating open terrain and woodland. Towards the end, the first houses of Säge come into view. The trail passes the Gasthaus and returns to Innereriz and the Eriz, Säge bus stop.
