01/ Overview
The route
Almost entirely downhill: from Marbachegg, the snowshoe trail descends through open slopes and forest to Marbach, accompanied by panoramic views of the Schrattenfluh, Hohgant and Eiger.
The Bretzeli cable car runs from Marbach up to Marbachegg. Beside the mountain restaurant, the snowshoe trail begins at around 1,470 m, meaning the highest point has already been reached. At first, panoramic views open up towards the Schrattenfluh, Hohgant and Eiger. The route then heads steadily downhill, initially across open terrain towards Siedenmoosflue and Nesselboden.
Farther down, pastures and forest alternate. Between Riseten and Cholweid, the trail steadily loses altitude; wildlife tracks draw attention to the life inhabiting the quiet stretches of forest. Approaching Marbach, the slopes become gentler and the first houses soon draw closer. At the Schrattenschanze ski jump with its matting, the route enters the village. The Marbachegg, Talstation bus stop is around 100 m from the finish. After just under four kilometres and a little over an hour and a half, the snowshoe trail ends at the Sportbahnen in Marbach.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
