Emme-Uferweg

This popular hiking and cycling trail starts in Burgdorf and runs for its whole length alongside the River Emme to Hasle bei Burgdorf. The route is ideal for tanking up on energy and total relaxation in beautiful surroundings.

From the Burgdorf, Poststrasse bus stop, the trail leads out of the built-up area. Before long, woodland dominates the scenery. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs only gently and remains on the official hiking trail network almost throughout. This makes for a pleasantly peaceful start to the seven-kilometre route, with no long or steep ascents.

Further on, dense stretches of woodland alternate with open meadows and pastures. Rather than sweeping summit views, this short link into the Emmental is defined by the transitions between the forest edge and cultivated land. The total elevation gain of around 60 metres is spread almost imperceptibly along the route; the highest point is reached only shortly before the destination, at around 570 m.

Near Hasle bei Burgdorf, the surroundings become more village-like again. The final steps lead to Hasle-Rüegsau, where the railway station lies just a few metres from the end of the route. After a little over an hour and a half, this straightforward hike between two easily accessible places comes to an end.
