01/ Overview
The route
A varied hike along the Emme, past shale banks and small falls, over old wooden bridges and through riverside woodland. The Heimatmuseum (folk museum) in the «Chüechlihus» (16th-century timber building) in Langnau, Emmental’s main town, is worth a visit.
The 14-kilometre hike begins at the Lützelflüh-Goldbach stop and is almost entirely level. In Lützelflüh, the hiking trail passes the Reformed church before leaving the built-up area. Stretches of woodland, meadows and pastures line the route to Ramsei, with the minimal elevation difference making for a gentle start.
Via Zollbrück, the trail continues towards Neumühle. Between the villages, fields and pastures repeatedly open up, interspersed with longer stretches of shady woodland. After around ten and a half kilometres, the route reaches the Ilfis and follows the river for a little over two and a half kilometres. The water now sets the course as Langnau gradually draws closer.
Shortly before the destination, the trail climbs gently once more, reaching its highest point at around 670 m. After just over three hours, it enters the houses of Langnau and ends a few steps from Langnau i.E. railway station.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
