01/ Overview
The route
Following in the footsteps of former hermits, this short circular walk leads from Gfellen to Alp Brüedere. Woodland, alpine pastures and historical information panels accompany the gentle route through Entlebuch.
The circular trail begins at the Gfellen PostBus stop and heads into the peaceful hills of Entlebuch. It initially leads to the Grosse Entle and across the Stillaubbrücke. At Brüederesagi, information panels offer insights into the area’s history, culture and natural environment. Meadows and pastures alternate with woodland, and a short section runs outside the marked hiking trail network. With only a few climbs, the route is suitable for pushchairs.
Higher up, the trail reaches Alp Brüedere. A hermit settlement existed here in the 15th century, and the Eremitenweg commemorates its former inhabitants. The alpine chapel, dating from 1725, is considered the oldest in the canton of Lucerne, while spring water flows from a wooden fountain. A golden eagle’s eyrie lies in the Flue above the alp. Via Ober Brüederemättli, the route climbs to its highest point at just under 1,080 m.
The trail then leads via Eibach through open pastures and woodland, returning to the first houses of Gfellen. After a little over an hour, the circular walk ends back at the PostBus stop.
