01/ Overview
The route
Following the Geotrail from Continent to Ocean, the Exploratour leads from the Julier Pass across the rocky Fuorcla digl Leget and down to Bivio.
From the Julier, La Veduta bus stop, a short approach path leads to the starting point at Plaz. The Exploratour follows the theme of the “Geotrail from Continent to Ocean” and initially crosses open slopes from the Julier Pass. The mountain path climbs steeply, becoming increasingly barren in the rocky terrain, and reaches the Fuorcla digl Leget after just over three kilometres. At around 2,700 m, the pass is also the highest point of the route.
The long descent to Bivio then begins. The path quickly loses altitude across rocky slopes and alpine pastures, with Piz Campagnun rising nearby. Farther down, forest replaces the open terrain. Not far away lies Lai da Marmorera, a reservoir in the Surses, before the first houses of Bivio come into view. Shortly before the destination, the route passes the Bivio Rösterei. After around eleven kilometres and just under four hours, it ends in Bivio, around 120 m from the Bivio, posta bus stop.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
