01/ Overview
The route
A short geological trail leads from Küttigen up to Staffelegg. Five stations explain the rocks and the formation of the Folded Jura.
The starting point is just a few steps from the Küttigen, Kreuz bus stop. The route initially passes the last houses before climbing towards Staffelegg. After a short section outside the marked trail network, it joins a yellow-marked hiking trail. Open meadows alternate with woodland as the geological trail gains around 200 metres in elevation.
Five geological stations explore the formation of the Folded Jura and present the main rock formations along the route. Over a distance of just under three kilometres, the short, steady ascent thus offers a vivid insight into the structure of the Jura. Towards the end, the trail reaches Staffelegg at around 620 m, which is also the highest point of the hike. The pass links Aarau with the Fricktal, and there is a restaurant at the top. From there, the route descends gently towards Riedmatt. The hike ends near the Staffelegg, Passhöhe bus stop.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
