01/ Overview

The route

The panorama winter hiking trail with impressive views into the Rhine valley, to the Prättigau and the Bündner Dolomites is on the plateau in the middle of the family friendly ski area Grüsch-Danusa.

The winter hike on Danusa begins at the Schwänzelegg (Cavadura) stop. After just a few steps, the Schwänzelegg viewpoint lies close to the trail; shortly afterwards, the circuit passes Berghaus Schwänzelegg. The winter hiking trail then heads out into open terrain. Meadows and pastures characterise the broad plateau as the starting point gradually recedes into the distance.

At first, the route descends gently before climbing again in a broad arc. Around halfway, near Hö Säss, it reaches its highest point at approximately 1,780 m; the summit itself lies off the circuit. From there, the route returns across the open terrain with gentle ascents and descents. After a total of around five kilometres and just over an hour and a half, the circuit closes at Berghaus Schwänzelegg and the Schwänzelegg stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
