01/ Overview
The route
This is probably the most famous and popular winter hiking trail in the entire Prättigau. This wonderful scenic route connects the small villages of St. Antönien and Pany.
Starting at the St. Antönien, Platz bus stop, the winter hike begins in the heart of the village and immediately passes the Reformed church. The church is listed as a cantonal monument. The Hotel-Restaurant Madrisajoch also lies directly on the route before the trail leaves the houses behind and climbs across open slopes. A good three hours should be allowed for the nine kilometres to Pany. Around 380 metres of ascent are covered by roughly the halfway point; near Chlei Chrüz, the route reaches its highest point at around 1'760 m.
The route then runs mainly downhill, initially still through open terrain and later into the forest. It steadily loses elevation among the trees as it heads towards Pany. Near the end, the Chrüzhofbeiz lies directly on the route; from there, it is only a few minutes to the destination in Pany. The Pany, Schwimmbad bus stop is just beside it and marks the end of the winter hike.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
