01/ Overview
The route
A snowshoe experience at a height of over 2,000 metres above sea level: the trail leads through the mountain pastures of Gspon, offering virtually uninterrupted views of the village and imposing mountain landscapes. To cap it off, the route goes past Europe’s highest football stadium.
From the Gspon mountain station, the snowshoe trail initially leads through the village. Right at the start, Restaurant Alpenblick and the Church of St Anna lie close to the route. The circuit then climbs briskly across open terrain. After around one kilometre, the highest point is reached at just under 2,000 metres; most of the total 200 metres of ascent has therefore already been completed.
The trail now descends towards Ze Hischinu. Alternating between open ground and forest, it loses considerable height and, after just over an hour, reaches the lowest part of the circuit by the houses. This is followed by a counter-climb before the final stretch leads back into the village. After around three kilometres and just under two hours, the circuit ends at the Gspon mountain station.
