01/ Overview
The route
The Heiligkreuz 'place of power' is a real gem in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. It promises not only a feeling of energy and peace, but also sporty winter hiking trails in pristine nature. This trail leads via the Reistegg up to the First. Both places offer glorious views of the Napf hills.
The winter hike, around six kilometres long, begins directly at the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche bus stop. Right at the start, the route passes the Heiligkreuz pilgrimage church. Its history dates back to the late Middle Ages; today it is a cultural property of national significance. Beyond the houses of Heiligkreuz, the trail climbs across open slopes before continuing uphill through longer stretches of forest.
After just over an hour, Berghaus First comes into view. A little later, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,430 m on the slopes of Farneren. From here, it descends again towards Heiligkreuz, alternating between forest and open pastures. Near the end, the winter hiking trail passes Kurhaus Heiligkreuz and returns to the pilgrimage church. After just over two hours, the circular route ends back at the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche bus stop.
