01/ Overview
The route
In summer and autumn, a popular nature paradise, in winter by far the sunniest winter hiking trail – a hike to the Hinter Höhi is well worth it at any time of the year.
The winter hike begins directly at the starting point near Amden, by the Niederschlag bus stop. The four-kilometre circuit runs almost entirely across open terrain. Initially, the route climbs through meadows and pastures, gaining a good share of the approximately 160 metres of elevation covered in total. Just under one and a half hours should be allowed for the full circuit.
Shortly before the halfway point, the winter hiking trail reaches its highest point at around 1,420 m. A little further on, Hinder Höhi lies directly on the route, while Raaberg rises about half a kilometre away. The trail then descends again, continuing through the open landscape. After the lowest point in the final third, there is one last gentle ascent. Finally, the circuit leads back to the starting point at Niederschlag; the bus stop of the same name is only a few steps away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
