Innauen-Weg Samedan–La Punt

The vastness, the light – it’s simply incredible: On the way through the river landscape of the Upper Engadin, the vista sweeps across the broad valley with the Inn in the middle. The river’s restored sections are particularly appealing. They are the highlight of the winter hike from Samedan to La Punt.

The starting point in Samedan lies around 400 m from the Samedan, Spital stop. At about 1'700 m, this is already the highest point on the route. With no significant ascent, the winter hike leads out of the village and across the wide, open expanses of the Upper Engadin. After around two kilometres, it reaches Lej da Gravatscha and runs directly along its shore. The artificial lake takes its name from the 2'755 m Munt Gravatscha.

The route then remains almost level, losing little elevation before La Punt Chamues-ch. Beyond the open meadows, it crosses areas of moorland on the valley floor. Towards the end, the first houses draw closer; the route passes the Krone Säumerei beside the Inn. A little way off stands La Punt’s Reformed church, whose Baroque onion dome is unusual for the Engadin. Shortly afterwards, the winter hike ends in La Punt Chamues-ch, a few steps from the Abzweigung Albula stop.
