01/ Overview
The route
Here you feel as if you are in the far north: to reach the Jänzi, you snowshoe through the varied winter landscape of the Langis-Glaubenberg area. Once you have arrived at the top you can look forward to a magnificent 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountain scenery and Sarnen Valley.
The snowshoe tour begins almost immediately from the Langis bus stop. After a short opening stretch past the houses, the route leads past the Stiftungskapelle and the Schwendi-Kaltbad mountain restaurant. Beyond, open meadows, moorland and sections of forest alternate. The trail climbs steadily, reaching a first prominent point at Eggli.
Higher up, the terrain becomes more open. Near Jänzi, the highest point of the circuit lies at around 1,740 m, reached just over halfway through the total distance of twelve kilometres. The route then descends at length back to lower elevations. Damp meadows and woodland now characterise the trail before it climbs gently once more. After just under six hours and around 580 metres of ascent in total, the snowshoe tour ends back at its starting point by the Langis bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
