01/ Overview
The route
Open winter landscapes, the raised bog near Salwideli and views of the Rothorn range and Schrattenfluh define this snowshoe trail over Blattenegg.
From the Sörenberg-Schönenboden bus stop, the snowshoe trail begins at the valley station of the Brienzer Rothorn aerial cableway. The route soon leaves the houses behind and crosses open winter landscapes towards Unter Habchegg and Alp Schlacht. With every metre of ascent, the panorama broadens: the Rothorn range rises on one side and the striking Schrattenfluh on the other.
The route continues to climb via Hinter Steinetli to Blattenegg. The pass is reached around halfway along the trail and, at 1,630 m, is the highest point of the tour. Hunds-Chnubel lies slightly off the route. The route then initially loses elevation and leads via Gross Gfäl into the open moorland of the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch.
In the Salwideli raised-bog area, broad open expanses alternate with sections of bog before Alp Salwiden draws closer. After a little over three and a half hours, the snowshoe tour ends at the Berggasthaus Salwideli. For the onward journey, the Salwideli bus connects the mountain inn with Rischli.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
