Blattenegg–Salwideli Trail

In addition to a long, sporty tour, snowshoe hikers can also expect the idyllic landscape of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere on this trail. The mountain panorama of the Rothorn chain and the Schrattenfluh as well as the high moor area Salwideli are real highlights for nature enthusiasts.

From the Sörenberg-Schönenboden stop, it is only a few steps to the start by the Rothornbahn. The route initially descends briefly before the long ascent begins. Leaving the valley floor, the snowshoe tour climbs steadily across open slopes. With around 460 metres of ascent, the first section requires stamina; after about two hours, the highest point is reached near Hunds-Chnubel at around 1'635 m.

Shortly afterwards, the route crosses the Blattenegg and descends across broad pastures. The pass marks the transition from the ascent to the generally gentler trail towards the destination. In the final third, wet meadows and open terrain characterise the route to Salwideli. After eight kilometres and a good four hours, the snowshoe trail ends at Berggasthaus Salwideli. There is no direct public transport connection there: the nearest stop, Hinterschwarzenegg, is around two and a half kilometres away.
